Targa Great Barrier Reef didn’t quite go as planned with Team 24oz having an engine part fail on Day 1. The expert crew and local businesses supported Team 24oz to repair the engine and get back on the road for Day 2 with substantial time penalties imposed due to not being able to complete all stages and pass through all time controls on Day 1.
Day 2 started off in fabulous form for Team 24oz with their Stage results sitting at equal 6th outright out of 63 competition vehicles for Mareeba and Springmount stages, which was a monumental effort against some of the fastest cars the world has to offer. They were sitting just behind a Dodge Viper, Lotus Exige, Porsche GT3, Subaru WRX and a V-Spec Nissan Skyline GT-R.
North Johnston Stage was the end of the run for Team 24oz with a massive crash taking them out of the competition. Whilst the team is safe thanks to the setup of the car and safety equipment such as Hans devices, there’s some damage to the 24oz with repairs already well underway.
